He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Phillips and Gladys Phillips (O'Dell); and his grandson Christopher Kuykendall. He is survived by: his spouses, Genevieve "Genny" Faye Hastings and Genny Phillips of Vandalia; his children, Mike Phillips, Connie Kuykendall of Knoxville, TN and Dave Phillips of Vandalia; his brother Larry Phillips; and his grandchildren, Brett Phillips, Cory Phillips, Steffen Kuykendall, Patrick Kuykendall, Meaghan Phillips and Cole Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Church of God, Vandalia or to the American Diabetes Association.
