He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Gelsinger and Elva Odean Gelsinger (Cripe); and his sisters, Flossie Johnson, Ella Lockart, Esther Willets and Bernidean Rush.

He is survived by: his sons, Charles Gelsinger Jr. (Tammy), Johnny Gelsinger (Kim) and Cary Gelsinger; his siblings, Bill Gelsinger of Decatur, James Gelsinger (Alice) of Centralia, Rosemary Case of Vandalia, Lois (Derald Finley) of St. Elmo, Ruthann (Bud Shipley) of Mulberry Grove and Sherry Cervau of California; and his grandchildren, Amber Gelsinger, J. D. Gelsinger, Sara Gelsinger, Jordan Gelsinger, Jeffrey Gelsinger, April Neely, Danielle Webb and John Shelton. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
