It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ara Lee McMurray of Valier, Illinois, born in Du Quoin, Illinois, who passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Le Roy and Lottie Duckworth (Wheeler); her father-in-law Kenneth Dean McMurray; her sons, Bruce Alan McMurray and Ronnie Kent McMurray; and her siblings, Wheeler Duckworth, Roy Gene Duckworth and Marguerite Holloway.

She is survived by: her son Paul Dean McMurray (Lynn) of West Frankfort; her daughters-in-law, Becky McMurray of Valier and Kristy McMurray of Valier; her grandchildren, Timothy McMurray of Valier, Kasey Shurtz of Sesser, Leslie Meadows of Sesser, Janie McMurray of Sesser, Kimber McMurray of Sesser and Haley Stroud of Benton; and her great grandchildren, Hayden McMurray, Liam McMurray, Jude McMurray, Paxton Shurtz, Abram Shurtz, Sadie Shurtz, Logan Meadows and Knoxx Stroud. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may make memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
