He was predeceased by: his parents, George Gerard and Dixie Kendall Gerard; his stepparents, Agatha Gerard and Elzea Degerlia; and his stepbrothers, Eddie and Bob Hyde.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Goodwin Hayes; his children, Jonathan Gerard of St. Louis, MO, Angela Brashears of Zephersville, FL and Cheryl Hayes of Quincy, IL; his grandchildren, Eric Glas, Amber Epley, Shalisha Clayton, Scottie Clayton, Kaitlyn Brashears and Stephanie Agnew; and his sister Tina Gordon of Hannibal, MO. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
