He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn McMahon. He is survived by: his children, Lynn Hanson (Michael), Vicki Avril-Groves (Marshall), Christopher McMahon (Katherine) and Jennifer Ellis (Jonathan). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four nieces/ nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in his name to the U of I YMCA McMahon Democracy Innovation Fund, the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Urbana-Champaign, or the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra.
