It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Norman K. Denzin of Urbana, Illinois, who passed away on August 6, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Norman K. Denzin to pay them a last tribute.

He is survived by: his wife Katherine Ryan; his daughters, Johanna Denzin (Steve) and Rachel Denzin (Craig); his grandchildren, Sylvia, Naomi, Max and Owen; his stepson Nathan Summers (Karen); his stepgrandchildren, Katie, Tara and Orion; and his brother Mark.

Thereafter, he made major contributions to the fields of symbolic interactionism, social psychology, poststructuralism, and postmodernism with a range of books, including On Understanding Emotion (1984), Interpretive Interactionism (1989), and Images of Postmodern Society (1991).
