It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janice Mitchell in Urbana, Illinois, born in Natchitoches, Louisiana, who passed away on November 15, 2021, at the age of 58, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ola Mae Babers and LuArthur of Washington; and her sister Mary Lee. She is survived by: her siblings, Ida, Susie, Gerlean, John, Shawn and Glenda; and her godchildren, Lentroy Anderson, Tina Findley, Rakeem Sallee, Donald "Ducky" Stewart, Celina White and Erique "EJ" Wright. She is also survived by 28 nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
During the global pandemic, UNCC's doors remained open all day to provide a space for students to engage in virtual learning in a supervised, supportive environment.
