He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Henry and Mary Ellen Grothe (Harper); his son Mark Wayne; and his siblings, Doris Schwehm, Wilma Smith, Ruth Chambers, Helen Grothe, Betty Freese, Norman, Ernest and Jerry Grothe.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Irene Wood of Sadorus; his daughters, Michelle Doty (Bob), Marcia Grothe and Melisa Cornelius (Mick); his granddaughters, Hannah Doty, Elizabeth Underwood (Josh) and Andrea Cornelius; and his brothers, Donald (Carol) and Duyane Grothe (Ann).
