It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verlaine Riva of Troy, Illinois, born in Walshville, Illinois, who passed away on July 8, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Saathoff and Irene Saathoff; and her sister Mariann Johnson. She is survived by: her children, Kyle Riva (Carla) of Troy, IL and Jolene Hanner (Kyle) of Staunton, IL; her grandchildren, Jacy Riva, Ryan Mitchell (Rebecca), Alicia Bauer (Josh), Candice Greer (Philip Coulby) and Michael Houston (Rachel); her great grandchildren, Alex, Leland, Finn Mitchell, Carson, Alivia Bauer, Hannah, Amelia and Aedan Houston; and her sister Evelyn Gill of Carolton, TX. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
