With profound sadness, we say goodbye to John Elmer Nehrt of Troy, Illinois, born in Breese, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. John Elmer left this world on December 2, 2024 at the age of 72, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Nehrt (Hermsmeyer) and Elmer Nehrt; and his sister Jeannette Carter (Wayne) of Parker, AZ. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Nehrt (Workman); his children, Timothy Nehrt (Melissa) of Brentwood, MO, Andrew Nehrt (Jodie) of Glen Carbon, IL and Rebecca Nehrt-Flores of Webster Groves, MO.; his grandchildren, Claire, Elliott, Ivy Joy Nehrt, Henry, Lila Nehrt, Juniper and Graham Nehrt-Flores; his siblings, James Nehrt (Rosie) of Carlyle, IL, Judy Johnson (late Ken) of Belleville, IL and JoAnn Gross (Dan) of Bartelso, IL.; his father-in-law Burdette "Bud" Workman (late Dorothy) of Glen Carbon, IL; and his siblings-in-law, Julie Jenkins (Jeff) of Scottsdale, AZ and Dave Workman (Sheri) of Westborough, MA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Our Lord's Lutheran Church (150 Wilma Dr, Maryville, IL 62062). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
