He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Lee and Clade Ellen Spencer (Butler); his wife Patty Spencer; his grandson Elijah Horevay; his son-in-law Thomas Horevay; and his siblings, Harold, John, Dale Spencer, Hazel Spencer, Daisy Mudd, Margaret Henke and Eleanor Ward.

He is survived by: his children, Karen Horevay of Lancaster, Lila Johnson (Stephen) of Casey and Darwin Spencer of Trilla, Illinois; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Benjamin, Joanna Horevay of Lancaster and Caitlin Purcell (Zack) of Casey, Illinois; his great grandchildren, Michelle of Casey, Illinois, Addyson of Casey, Illinois and Amelia Purcell of Casey, Illinois; and his brother Delbert Spencer (Marilyn) of Trilla, Illinois..
