He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred W. Tjaden and Geraldine E. Tjaden; his stepson Tom Gerstenecker Jr.; his siblings-in-law, Harold Neff, Stan Hopfinger, Merhl Myers, Duane Rutherford, Thomas Hemann and Helene Neff; his uncle Robert; and his aunt Florence Tjaden.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Tjaden; his son Stan Tjaden (Julie Schuette); his stepchildren, Cynthia Gerstenecker (Michael Anderson) and Scott Gerstenecker (Shayla Rose); his granddaughter Emma Tjaden; his stepgrandchildren, Danielle Gerstenecker (Tim Strothman), Andrew Gerstenecker (Maria Carrera), Monica Smith, Richard Garcia, Katrina Garcia, Arturo Garcia (Ximena Altamirano), Taylor Gerstenecker, Elise Gerstenecker and Anna Gerstenecker; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Thomas Strothman, Gavin Gerstenecker, David Piper, Jessica Piper, Kayda Garcia and Maxwell Garcia; his great great grandchild Jason Piper; and his sisters-in-law, Marcie Hopfinger, Marilyn Rutherford and Kathy Carpenter (Joe).
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (901 N Alton St, Lebanon, IL 62254). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
