He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernice Kurz and Herbert Kurz; his son Richard "Rick" Kurz; his brother Jerry Kurz (Betty); and his brother-in-law Virgil Padfield.
He is survived by: his wife Mary "Bougie" Zinschlag-Bassler; his daughters, Brenda Neal (Ronald) of Bridgeton, MO and Lisa Bell (Kevin) of Trenton; his stepchildren, Brad Bassler (Julie) of Huntsville, AL, Lisa Wiegmann (Ron) of St. Rose, Jeff Bassler (Alyssa) of Breese and Chris Bassler (Jenny) of New Baden; his grandchildren, Whitney Nonn (Chris), Dylan Kurz, Zachary Bell (Jen) and Casey Bell (Kaden McCann); and his great grandchildren, Judd and Nori Jo Nonn. He is also survived by eleven step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; sisters-in-law.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or Unity Hospice and will be received through Moss Funeral Home, who is serving the family (535 North 5th Street, Breese, IL, 62230).
