He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Patterson and Juanita Reeser Patterson. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Green; his daughters, Connie Oehler (Steve) of Danvers and Debra Jenkins (John) of Illinois; and his siblings, Delores McClure of Bloomington and Paul Patterson (Connie) of Heyworth. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

The family suggests for memorials to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
