He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Peat and Claudia Waterhouse (Howard); his stepfather Jerry Waterhouse; his sons, Fritz Peat and Mark Lash; and his siblings, Laura Ann, Janet Lynn and Robert Peat.

He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Taylor of Tovey, IL; his children, Richard B. Peat, Jr. of Kincaid, IL and Carol Landers (Dan) of Decatur, IL; and his brothers, Donald Waterhouse (Maureen) of Iowa and Thomas Peat of Iowa. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren.
