He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Esselman and Florence Esselman (Holste); his brother Melvin; his nephew Tracey Trimpe; and his great-niece Michelle.
He is survived by: his sister Margaret Esselman Trimpe (Ron); and his nieces and nephews, Vicki Esselman Carr (Joe), Tricia Trimpe Stehlin (Vince), Troy Trimpe (Gina) and Trevor Trimpe (Dina).
Memorial donations may be made in Nelson's name to the Havana Food Pantry, Mason District Hospital, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, or donor's choice.
