He was predeceased by: his parents, William F. Schmillen and Rose M. Schmillen (Ehrnthaller); his daughter Lora Schertz (Schmillen); and his siblings, Francis, William, Eugene, Thomas, Eileen Lowrance (Schmillen) and Colette Rogers (Schmillen).
He is survived by: his wife Gladys M. Wudtke; his children, Anthony Schmillen (Susan) of Sherman, Valerie Conrady (Gary) of Lincoln and Steven Schmillen (Amanda) of Ottawa; his son-in-law Jeff Schertz of Chatham; his grandchildren, Dominic Schmillen (Burlie), Augustus Schmillen (Hanna), Jesse Schmillen (Sarah), Sawyer Conrady, Schyler Wilson (Jeff), Sage Conrady, Emily Elliott (Jeff), Jacob Schertz, Anna Carrigan (Andy) and Hayden Schmillen; his great grandchildren, Sampson, Maverick Schmillen, Tristan, Damon Schmillen, Mason Schmillen, Noa and Maisie Wilson; his siblings, Gaylord Schmillen (Marcia) of Toluca and Dolores Tapay of Los Gatos, CA; and his sister-in-law JoAnn Schmillen of Toluca. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Eastern Marshall County EMS, the Toluca Fire Department, or a charity of the donor's choice.
