She was predeceased by: her parents, Aloysius Thoele and Bernadine Thoele (Reiman); her husband John Ballinger; her son Steven Varley; and her grandsons, John Ballinger V and Jeremy Ballinger.

She is survived by: her children, Daniel T. Varley of Los Alamos, Dianna Przybylski (Ron) of Petersburg, John H. Ballinger IV of Effingham and Matthew J. Ballinger of Toledo, Illinois. She is also survived by five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
