He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sue; his children, Lane Melgar, Jamie Chmura (Erik), Kate Reyes (Nicolas) and Taylor Bolek (Joseph); his grandchildren, Landon, Evan, Kaylie, Jaxson, Camden, Isla, Ivy and Parker; and his brother Dirk Spence (Lana).

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Lawn Funeral Home - Tinley Park (17909 S 94th Ave, Tinley Park, IL 60487). A funeral service was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 from 9:15 AM to 10:00 AM and at 10:00 AM.
