He was predeceased by: his parents, James Pauly and Helen Pauly; and his brothers, John Pauly (Lillian) and Louis Pauly. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Dorothy Pauly (Louis Pauly); his children, James Pauly Jr., Suellen Cozzens (Jeff), Dennis Pauly, Linda DeYoung and Barbara Porter (Alan); and his pet Rusty. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
