She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Taylor and Ruby Upchurch Taylor; and her husband John H. Gieker. She is survived by: her sons, Jim Gieker (Sheila) of Clayton and Joe Gieker (Julie) of Charlotte; and her grandchildren, Dylan Gieker of Charlotte and Amber Reed.
