He was predeceased by: his parents, Roger Hefling and Edith Huffman Hefling; his former wife Mary Stingley; his wife Wanda Baird; his sons, John Harvey Hefling and Timothy Hefling; his son-in-law Robert Hill; and his brother Jim Hefling.
He is survived by: his daughters, Candy Hill of Tilton and Deborah Hefling of Indianapolis, IN; his daughter-in-law Lisa Hefling of Frankfort, IN; his siblings, Jeanette Leroux of Columbia, MO, Joel Hefling of Platte and Jerry Hefling (Jerri) of Paola, Kansas; and his son-in-law Stacey Gooch. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
