William Lloyd Quinlan Obituary
William "Bill" Quinlan, 68, of Thomasboro passed away on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
He was born Oct. 18, 1945, in Urbana, a son of Lloyd and Caroline (Wagner) Quinlan.
He married Mary Lou Raup on Feb. 24, 1968, at St. Malachy Church, Rantoul. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Scott (Becky) Quinlan of Thomasboro and Mark (Wendy) Quinlan of Chicago; a sister, Debra (Steve) Meece of Rantoul; and three grandchildren, Emma, Anna, and Brady, all of Thomasboro. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carolyn.
Bill was a 1963 graduate of Rantoul Township High School. He served in the U.S. Marines until 1967. During that time he served two terms in Vietnam.
Bill was a skilled carpenter and worked construction for many years. He then continued his career at the Danville VA Hospital, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He was also a Past Grand Knight, and 4th Degree member of the Rantoul Knights of Columbus. He sat on the Thomasboro School Board for many years.
Bill enjoyed working on various projects for family and friends or anyone in need. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and shared a special bond with all his nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Thomasboro. Father Joseph Donton will officiate. Burial will follow at Beckman Cemetery, Thomasboro. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul.
Memorials may be made to the St. Malachy School Fund or Wounded Warrior.
