She was predeceased by: her parents, William Woodrow "Woody" and Florine Ernestine Smith (Benard); her husband Chester "Chet" Earle Connaway; her brother Donald Smith; and her sons-in-law, Chuck Hicks and Lynn McFarlin.
She is survived by: her children, Michele "Shelly" McFarlin (Dave Dubay), Dee Lynn Hicks of Texico, Beth Anne Hardig (Darrell) of Mount Vernon, Illinois, LeeAnne Connaway of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Robert Earle Goldman Connaway of Mount Vernon, Illinois; her grandchildren, Karen Rich, Kavell McClain of Mount Vernon, Bekkah Rich Johnson (Paul) of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Garrett McFarlin of Texico, Larry Hardig, III (Benita), Micah Hardig of Mount Vernon and Michael Hicks of Texico, Illinois; her siblings, Norma Bowles (Charles Setzkorn), Douglas Smith (Maren) of Virginia and Martin Smith (Cathy) of Opdyke, Illinois; and her sister-in-law Sandra Smith of Mount Vernon, Illinois. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Oakwood Cemetery (2400 Broadway St, Mt Vernon, IL 62864). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in Barbara's honor to the local DAV (Disabled American Veterans) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
