He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward H. Esker and Leona Esker (Myers); his siblings, James Myers and Mary Katherine Nash; and his great grandchild Avery Muhs.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Esker of Teutopolis; his children, Doug Esker (Shannon) of Teutopolis, Jody Gillum (Darren) of Dieterich and Dana Wente (Dennis) of Sigel; and his grandchildren, Brittany Goeckner, Lauren Muhs, Juston Gillum, Blake Kinkelaar and Nicole Koester. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
