He was predeceased by: his son Mark Probst (Patty) of Dieterich; his grandchildren, Tony Probst and Maria Ruholl; his siblings, Ed Probst (Clara), Bernard Probst (Florence), Frieda Weishaar (Fritz), Hilda Nieman, Marie Bloemer (Bud), Alma Probst, Martha Probst and Frank Probst; and his brother-in-law Louis Donsbach (Barbie).

He is survived by: his spouse Inis (Meyer Kistner); and his children, Diann Ruholl (Ralph) of Teutopolis, Alan Probst (Lavonne) of Wheeler, Kevin "Moose" Probst of Effingham, Kent Probst (Julie) of Wheeler, Susan Vogt (Jerry) of Sigel, Gary Probst (Lisa) of Wheeler, Toby Probst (Margie) of Wheeler, Phillip Probst (Angie) of Wheeler, Steve Probst of Westlake, TX, Karen Genders (Ted) of Effingham and Laurie Bohnhoff (Dirk) of Effingham. He is also survived by 39 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild on the way, and 6 step-children, 19 step-grandchildren, 9 step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
