He is survived by: his children, William Z. Bates (Marilyn) of New Braunfels, TX, Julie Perona (Ron) of Owaneco, IL, Scott D. Bates (Marty) of Taylorville, IL and Lisa McGehee (William) of Firestone, CO; his grandchildren, Billy Bates (June) of Texas and April Durbin (Brian) of Taylorville, IL; his children, Luke Bates, Jace Bates of Taylorville, IL, T. J. Bates (Aimee) of Taylorville, IL, Patrick McGehee (Ashley), Derrick McGehee, Erika Peithman and Tony McGehee; his great grandchildren, Simone, Corine, Josephine, Adelyn, Mason, Ryan and Ella; and his nieces, Lori Britach (Matt) of Ohio and Nancy Martin of Witt, IL..
