He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Bernard Emery Mathews and Eunice Elmira Ramp Mathews; his wife Brenda Ford Mathews; his son Rob David Mathews (Brenna Cook Mathews) of Taylorville; his stepgrandsons, Charles James (CJ) and Jack Robert Boston; his daughter Deanna Lynne Mathews Kilbourne (James Kilbourne) of Urbana; and his sister Evelyn Mathews Marsh (Robert). He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
