He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Markwell and Sarah Markwell (Coffey); his grandson Jonathon Ray Markwell; his son-in-law Henry McDaniels; and his siblings, Norman Markwell, Gail Markwell, Lynn "Soap" Markwell, Albert "Rusty" Markwell and Lois Morphew.
He is survived by: his wife Merle Markwell of Taylorville; his children, Roni Markwell-McDaniels of Swansea, Fred Markwell (Sandy) of Edwardsville, Steve Markwell (Beth) of Taylorville and Dan Markwell (Renee) of Springfield; his grandchildren, Kelsey Ryan (Patrick), Lindsay McDaniels, Logan Markwell, Grace Markwell, Luke Markwell and Emma Markwell; his great grandchildren, Atlas Ryan and Tahlia Ryan; and his sister-in-law Eileen Markwell of St. Petersburg, Florida. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
