He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Leslie and Geneva Marie Tirey (Jones); and his siblings, Roy Tirey, Thelma Weaver, Judy Brown, John Tirey, Brenda Spoon, Richard Tirey and Betty Hicks.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Tirey of Taylorville; his sons, Kevin Tirey (Jennifer) of New Berlin and Brian Tirey of Charleston; his grandchildren, Riese Tirey, Flynn Tirey and Katharine Tirey; and his sisters, Anna Collins of Taylorville and Elsie Durbin of Taylorville. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
