She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Kemper and Emma Kemper (Hays); her spouse Thomas Carlen Jr.; her son Billy Carlen; and her siblings, Louise, Leroy, Francis and Gene.
She is survived by: her children, E. Lucille Herman II (Thomas) of Taylorville, IL, Thomas Carlen (Shelley) of Taylorville, IL, Larry Carlen (Priszella) of Taylorville, IL, Rick Carlen (Denise) of Beecher, IL, Michael Carlen (Nanilyn) of Chatham, IL and Kevin Carlen (Debbie) of Shelbyville, IL; and her brothers, Leonard Kemper of Greenup, IL. and Lowel Kemper of Greenup, IL.. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Sutton Memorial (327 N Clay St, Taylorville, IL 62568). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials in Hazel's honor may be made to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital, to the VFW Post 4495, or to American Legion Post 72.
