He is survived by: his wife Joyce Coghlan of Springfield, IL; his children, Debra Blake of Edinburg, IL, Deana Coghlan of Springfield, IL, Dolly Coghlan of Springfield, IL, Dawn Truax (Kenneth Wayne) of Edinburg, IL, Darrel Coghlan (Amanda) of Taylorville, IL, Donna Saunders of Taylorville, IL, Danny Coghlan, Denise Coghlan of Springfield, IL and Dennis Coghlan of Taylorville, IL; his adoptive son Sean Denton (Coghlan); his sisters, Mamie Richardson of Murphysboro, IL and Ethel "Kay" Barron of Troy, MO; and his pet Pistol Pete.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Sutton Memorial (327 N Clay St, Taylorville, IL 62568). A memorial service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
