He was predeceased by: his parents, Hallie Brooks and Elva Arlene Brooks (Wilks); his brother William L. Brooks; his sister-in-law Charlene Brooks; and his parents-in-law, Earl and Frances Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn S. Thompson; his daughters, Tami Alvis (David) of Du Quoin, Beth Vancil (Darryl) of Du Quoin and Heather Opp (Scott) of Tamaroa; his grandchildren, Bailey Vancil (Heather), Brooke Vancil (Weston Kabat), Shania Opp (Brady Louis), Dylan Opp (Savannah) and Tobias Alvis (family: Devoney Alvis, Jaymon Alvis, Jaron Alvis); his great grandchildren, Max, Hailey Vancil, Jake Kabat, Tatum Opp, Beau Opp, Imani Alvis, Everly Alvis and Wrenly Alvis; and also Paul Krone. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may make memorials to Nine Mile Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the church or funeral home.
