He was predeceased by: his parents, William Wesselman and Mildred Wesselman (Boyer); and his brothers, Bill Wesselman, Dan Wesselman and Bob Wesselman.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Zillion; his children, Beth Nelson (Marty) of Tallula, Brenda Burke of Texas and Brian Wesselman of Chicago, Illinois; and his grandchildren, Alix Sherren (Rick) of Petersburg, Jessica Ferguson (Evan) of Georgia, Trey Nelson (Kelsie) of Peoria and Samantha Nelson (Dallas Jones) of Petersburg, Illinois. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
