He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Taken and Ida Taken (Shirmer); his wife Arline J. Holmes; his daughters, Sally Taken and Kelly Taken (Mike Goss); his grandchildren, Jason Taken, Amanda Welton, Kayln Schmalz, Nicole Welton and Jonathan Welton; his great grandchild Eli Riley; and his siblings, Larry Taken (Sandy), Almore Taken (Betty), Theresa Vertz (Don) and Barbara Schnipkoweit. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Walter R. Taken Memorial Fund, addressed to the Taken Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
