He was predeceased by: his parents, Perry Bowen and Emmadell Bowen (Bagley). He is survived by: his wife Julia Russell; his children, Kim McMahon (Dale) and Bryan Bowen; his grandchildren, Amber Bowen and Zachery Bowen; his siblings, Michael Bowen, Cynthia Dinsmore and Diane Middleton; and his sister-in-law Barbara Schmid. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
