He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas E. and Helen Courtney (Diedrich); his wife Vivian; his grandson Matthew John Williams; and his siblings, Thomas Earl, Thomas Edward, Richard Courtney, Margaret Courtney and Joanne Quinlan (John).
He is survived by: his children, Jan Courtney of DeKalb, Michael Courtney (Brenda) of Sycamore, Patrick Courtney of DeKalb, Noell Dust (Wayne) of Rockford and Jennifer Courtney of DeKalb. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date.
