He was predeceased by: his parents, John Grzywa and Barbara Grzywa (Koziol); and his siblings, Virgil Grzywa, Joan Grzywa and Dorothy Grzywa.

He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Grzywa; his children, Jeffery Grzywa, Daniel Grzywa, William Grzywa (Kristine) and Jayne Grzywa; his grandchildren, Danny, Cody and Josie; and his brothers, John "Jack" Grzywa and Theodore "Ted" Grzywa.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Richard's name.
