It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John W. Schmitz of Sycamore, Illinois, who passed away on May 8, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazel Schmitz and Frank Schmitz; his wife Evelyn R. Schmitz; his daughter Ruth; his granddaughter Karen; and his siblings, Edward, Eugene, Ruth Maxine Melrose, Martha Schiffbauer and Mary Henderson.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah Paulin (James) of DeKalb, Peggy Benkeser (Paul) of Atlanta, Georgia, David Schmitz (Pam) of New Brighton and John Schmitz Jr. (Bonnie) of Streator, Illinois. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
