He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Rooney and Eileen Rooney; his wife Ursula Gruenberg; his children, Kati Rooney (Jim Hennessey) of Chicago, Anna Rooney (Billy David Ketchum) of Oak Park, Julia Rooney of Berwyn, John Paul Rooney (Linda Ruggeri) of Oak Park and Peter Rooney (Katharina Wuertl) of Keene, NH; his siblings, Kathleen Rooney (Doug Lowe) of Nashua, NH and Jim Rooney (Carol Langstaff) of Sharon, Vt.; his grandchildren, Jackson, Nicholas, Veronica, Leo, Lev, Max and Jakob; his great grandchild James; and his sister Eileen Driscoll (Phillip). He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Northern Illinois University Foundation.
