He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Smith and Doris Smith (Bates); his wife Joanne Anderson; his sisters, Shirley Yentzer and Barbara Herbst; and his granddaughter Sarah Swantner.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Springer (Gary), Gregory Smith (Dee Ann), Blair Smith, Theresa Johnson (Rick), Keith Smith (Lisa) and Karri Smith; his grandchildren, Erin, Amy, Doris, Tabitha, Charlie, Luke, Mary Grace, Chelsea, Lauren, Leigh-Ann and Stephen; his great grandchildren, Kindall, John, Dyllon, Meadow, Jenny, Maxine, Kaley, Taylor, David, Madison, Brianna, Brayden and Bentley; his great great grandchildren, Conner, Carson and Cadence; his brother Lee Smith (Sue); his nephew Rick Lamb (Cheryl); and his sister-in-law Janet Jones. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
