It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Donald Lampkins of Sycamore, Illinois, who passed away at the age of 89, on October 22, 2023. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Lampkins and Pearl Lampkins; his wife June Kerwin; his daughter Doris Grubbs; and his siblings, Corvin, Orval, Maudlyn, Arnold, Georgie, Delmer and Dewey.

He is survived by: his grandson Don; his children, Cheryl Maness of Sycamore, Don Lampkins (Kathy) of Sycamore, Deana Eberly (Ed) of Malta and Steve Lampkins (Barbara) of Sycamore; his grandchildren, Scott Maness (Basia), Bradley Maness (Lindsay), Becky Springer (Mike) of Erica, A. A. D., Jessica Gale (Jarod), Kristi Radtke, Adam Day (Nicole), Melissa Johnson (Stephen), Jaime Eberly, Emily Lampkins (Rick), Tylor Lampkins (Taylor), Greg Lampkins (Ashley), Kaylee Lampkins, Crystal Bawker, Caramie Munch (Mike) and Eric Bawker (Stephanie); his sister-in-law Bonnie Diedrich; and his great great grandchildren, Hayzel and Colson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund is being established for Don to be determined by the family at a later date in care of the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL. 60178.

Shari mattingly wrote a sympathy message

“To all the Lampkin family: I loved to see your dad on his scooter with his dog checking on the neighborhood. It was fun to stop and talk to him about the old days. He was a wonderful man. Best memory was him teaching me as a brand new mom how to clip a baby's fingernails. Such tiny little fingers and I was too scared to do it. He clipped her nails for several months.
