He was predeceased by: his parents, Olin L. Merrell and Clarenda 'Louise' Merrell (Phillips); and his former wife Cindy Umfleet. He is survived by: his wife Violeta Medrano Sangil; his children, John David Merrell of Deatsville and Jessica Marie DeVoss (Josh) of Greenwood, Indiana; his sisters, Lisa Merrell of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Mary Merrell of Lawrenceville, Illinois; and his grandson Doug DeVoss.
