Mary Grooms Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Grooms of Sullivan, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 3, 2025 at the age of 102. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Grooms to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Oliver Starwalt and Bessie Seeley Starwalt; her husband John W. "Jack" Grooms; and her siblings, Willard, Rex Starwalt, Esther Clark, Mona Von Behren, Opal Borror, Charlene Young, Hettie Reece and Alice Speck.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Ann Sphar of Phoenix, AZ and John R. Grooms (Debbie) of Sullivan; her grandchildren, Leigh Anne Sphar of Phoenix, AZ, Angie Avila (Steven) of Mesa, Arizona, Kristen Hubble (Brad) of Leroy, IL, Nick Grooms (Heidi) of Sullivan and Tyson Grooms (Kasey) of Sullivan; her great grandchildren, Haegan Baumann and Brooklyn Sphar; and her grandchildren, Kailey, Brayden, Brock Hubble, Gabby, Grace, Jack Grooms, Tucker and Kiley Grooms.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Shrader Funeral Home (204 N Locust St, Arcola, IL 61910). A graveside service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Humboldt Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Sullivan Sports Boosters or American Heart Association.
