He was predeceased by: his stepfather George Gurley; his in-laws, Don and Grace McFarlane; his grandparents, Dewey and Annie Gunter; and his sister Rhonda Colgan.

He is survived by: his wife Patti; his children, Michael Gunter, Brittany Gunter (Angelo Lorenzo), John Savage (Jaime) and Ashley Savage (Francisco Lopez); his mother Mary Gurley; his siblings, Marlene Tuchten (Steve) and George Gurley II (Tammy Gurken); and his sisters-in-law, Kay Smith (Dave) and Jan Robak (Mike). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
