He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Dowell and Martha Jean Ross Dowell; his brother Larry; his former wife Diane Grigsby; his children, Danny, Scotty, Ronnie, Robin and Erin; his wife Judy Melvin (Stevenson); and his close friend Larry Dowell.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Devin Stivers of Quincy, IL, Courtney Sheich of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Matt and Ryan Druffel; his great grandchild Jaxson Sheich; his stepchildren, Kathy Wren and Richard Melvin; his siblings, Sheila Wells of Bloomington, IL and Rodney Dowell of Girard, IL; his sister-in-law Becky Dowell of Stronghurst; and also, Harry and Helen Ross. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and a very special dog.
