It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Charles Layton Thompson of Stronghurst, Illinois, who passed away on June 9, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Dale Thompson and Verna Woods Thompson; his siblings, Roberta Summers, McKinley, Virgie Mae, Richard, Maxine, Jessie and Larry Thompson; his significant other Shirley Brannon; his niece Teresa Thompson; and his son-in-law Mark Freyling.

He is survived by : his daughters, Debra Barnes, Carla Harris, Bobbi Tapscott, Toni Martin, Lisa Freyling (Mark), Connie Hunt-Jacobs (Jared), DeAnne Brannon and Brandi Thompson (Ecron); his grandchildren, Tina Hoenig (Jeremy), Charles Ryan Boughton (Catherine), Lawrence Randall Boughton (Elizabeth), Heather Dively (Eric), Jeffery Tapscott, Nicholaus Tapscott (Maranda), Victoria Smith (Joseph), Tia Randall (Kevin), Timothy Martin (Emily), Johna Butler (Dan), Marissa Balk (Aaron), Angel Oak, Layton Housman (Jacinda Hill), Krisden Todd (Kaleb), Carlee Restuccio (Dakota), Tom Brown, Monique Brown, Tiffany Brown, Josiah Thompson and Nia Thompson; his nephews, Mark Summers, Brian Summers, Scott Thompson and Larry Thompson; and his niece Patty Sykes. He is also survived by forty three great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, June 22nd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Crane Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for Henderson County Hospice.
