He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Weiss and Myrtle Weiss (Michaels); his sister Rogene Snook; his grandson Nicholas Weiss; and his great grandchild Keaton Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn J. Ayers; his children, Sherlyn Beckman (Douglas) of Streator, Sherman John, Jr. (Debra) of Streator, Mark (Candy) of California, Martha Sokol (late Greg) of Streator, Douglas of Broken Arrow, OK, Robert (Shelley) of Broken Arrow, OK and Elizabeth Stull (Brent) of Goodyear, AZ.; and his siblings, Michael Weiss (Marcia), Thomas Weiss (Linda) of Ottawa and Mary Jo Zimmerlein of Sublette.
Memorials may be made to St. Michael's School or Marquette Academy.
