It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Russell Kates of Streator, Illinois, who passed away on March 31, 2021, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Kates and June Kates (Antram); his wife Mary Sellers; his son Randy Kates; and his brother-in-law Richard Young.
He is survived by: his daughter Susan Grigas (Tom) of Leola, PA; his stepsons, John Franzen (Connie) of Grand Ridge and Ron Franzen (Connie) of Highland, IL; his grandchildren, Christopher Grigas of San Francisco, CA, William Grigas of Essex Junction, Alex Grigas of New Haven, CT, Christi Hellman (Mark) of Ottawa, Barbi Rosborg (Kyle) of Swansea, IL, Amy Winfrey (Adam) of Webster Groves, MO and Jaclyn Stahlhut (John) of Alhambra, IL; his great grandchildren, Hallie, Austin, Cami Hellman, Charlotte, Gus, Leo Rosborg, Ava, Andrew Winfrey and Cash Stahlhut; and his sisters, Janet Young of Aurora and Janice Stalter (Larry) of Princeton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30AM at the funeral home with social distancing being followed and masks being worn.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Streator Lions Club Equipment Fund or Grand Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.
