He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Byrne and Anna Byrne (Malone); his wife Mary Austino; and his sister Susan Chrisensen. He is survived by: his children, Melissa Byrne of Streator and Robert E. Byrne (Heather) of Streator; his grandchildren, Taliss, Tamyra, Na'vaeh, Andrea and Austin; his great grandchild Ta'naija; and his sisters, Rosemary Gorgol of Florida, Karen Wooddell of Wisconsin, Elaine Webber of Ottawa and Lorrie McCaskey of Florida.

Memorials may be directed to the Fisher House Foundation in Chicago.
